To the team at Crusader Catamarans, this meaning represents one who goes on despite the circumstances – a winner – an overcome … and they know who they are!

Sister company, Oceanic Yacht Design, made up of ex-seafarers, yachtsman, and Naval Architects, decided to raise the bar in catamaran standards. In a program that started in 1997, the team tested a 5 metre scale model, then a 15 metre full size model. This vessel was run through the Southport Seaway many times without tunnel slam. The team then pursued optimization of LCB’s and LCF’s in this semi-swath full form.

Interior designers were also brought in to follow and develop a layout that had been identified from an extensive marketing analysis. Team Crusader focused on what the boat owner wanted as opposed to prioritizing ease of building for a boat builder.

Ahead of the market, the team developed a performance hull for minimum horsepower, recognizing that fuel economy would be a major criteria for the discerning boat buyer.
